South Africa [ Nelson Mandela Square ]

Nelson Mandela Square, at the core of Africa’s most influential economic district, stands a six meter tall statue of the eponymous beloved grandfather of South Africa. The square is situated in Johannesburg’s European-styled piazza of the same name, in lively Sandton, Gauteng Province. It is home to a variety of chic boutiques, upmarket shops, fashionable African, Italian, Greek and French restaurants and water fountains for the kids’ amusement, with the statue standing center of it all. What a wonderful opportunity to have your photo taken side by side with a giant ode to the great man.

Sandton is known as “Africa’s richest square mile” and is a cosmopolitan melting pot of global trades, cultures and trends.
Home to approximately 300 000 residents and 10 000 businesses, and offering everything from finance to fashion, Sandton is the commercial, business and entertainment hub of South Africa.

Nelson Mandela Square is just one of a number of notable landmarks in Sandton. Others include:
  • Sandton City
  • Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)
  • Sandton Convention Centre
  • Sandton Library
  • Top international hotels
  • The Sandton Gautrain station
